The Euroleague team Fenerbahce officially announced the signing of Pero Antic, ending the center’s two-year career with the NBA and the Atlanta Hawks.
Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha have a trial date of Sept. 9 in New York for the misdemeanor charges stemming from an arrest in the city in April.
Pero Antic said he and Atlanta Hawks teammate Thabo Sefolosha were not with Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland when Copeland was stabbed.
Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha were arrested in New York early Wednesday and charged with obstructing governmental administration.
Pero Antic wants to re-sign with the Hawks. The Macedonian is in the final season of the two-year contract he signed with the Hawks in 2013.
Pero Antic had surgery to repair a broken nose and the Hawks center missed practice Saturday.
Hawks forward/center Pero Antic will likely be out two more weeks, according to Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer.
The league will replace Pero Antic's spot in the Rising Stars Game with Phoenix Suns' center Miles Plumlee, the second year player out of Duke.
Atlanta Hawks announced Thursday that forward/center Pero Antic has a stress fracture to his right ankle and is expected to miss two-to-four weeks.
