Timberwolves waive popular big man Nikola Pekovic
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced the team has waived center Nikola Pekovic.
Sidelined because of foot pain almost since he signed a five-year, $60 million contract in August 2013, Pekovic played only 12 games the past two seasons and hasn’t played since January 2016.
Pekovic appeared in 271 games for the Wolves, averaging 12.6 points, on 51.8 percent shooting, and 6.7 rebounds. He was drafted by Minnesota in the second round (31st overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft.
