Wizards not extending Bradley Beal
The Washington Wizards view Bradley Beal as a pillar in their backcourt for years to come, but the two sides have reached a mutual accord to wait until next summer to enact the marriage and will not agree to a contract extension before tonight’s midnight deadline.
As a result, Beal will become a restricted free agent in July.
“Bradley is a huge part of what we’re trying to do here,” Wizards General Manager Ernie Grunfeld said. “We see him as a key piece to our future and we’ll resume negotiations next summer.”
