Mavericks' Wesley Matthews likely out until late-December

Mavericks new shooting guard Wesley Matthews is not going to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Matthews is recuperating from a major injury - a torn Achilles sustained on March 5 against the Mavericks in Portland.

Asked if Christmas was a realistic date for Matthews' return, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said: "It's a definite maybe."
