David Blatt will return as coach of Cavaliers
David Blatt said Thursday he “absolutely” intends to return as coach of the Cavaliers and has the organization’s backing after a 53-win season and trip to the NBA Finals.
Cavs General Manager David Griffin said the Cavs finished 33-3 with their lineup healthy and intact, reason enough to keep this group together. That includes the coach after the Cavs fired their coach following each of the last two seasons.
Blatt’s relationship with LeBron James, however, remains a topic of scrutiny in light of Thursday’s report from ESPN’s Marc Stein that James was “essentially calling timeouts and making substitutions” during the NBA Finals and “openly barking at Blatt after decisions he didn’t like.”
