Golden State would need worst collapse in 37 years to lose NBA Finals
The last time a team won in Cleveland’s currently situation was in 1978, when the Washington Bullets lost Game 5 on the road in Seattle, then won Game 6 at the Cap Centre and Game 7 back in Seattle.
That’s also the last time an NBA team won Game 7 of the NBA Finals on the road. In all, going back to the founding of the league, there have been 18 Game 7s played in the Finals and the road team has won just three times (.167).
So, for Cleveland to win the NBA Finals, they’ll have to pull off a feat that’s only happened three times in 68 years and zero times in the last 37 years — winning a Game 7 on the road. They’ll also have to do something that only five teams have done in the last 40 years: force that Game 7 by winning Game 6. T
