Russell Westbrook receives Community Assist Award

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has received the 2014-15 Seasonlong NBA Cares Community Assist Award in recognition of his countless charitable contributions and efforts, the league announced Tuesday.

The award recognizes an NBA player who best reflects the passion that the league and its players share for giving back to their communities.

The award was voted on by fans and an NBA panel of judges including past J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award winners, Bob Lanier and Dikembe Mutombo.
