Syracuse's Boeheim to retire after 3 more seasons

Daryl Gross is out as Syracuse's athletic director, and the school has announced Jim Boeheim will retire as its men's basketball coach after three more seasons.

"Coach Boeheim ... intends to retire as head coach in three years," Syracuse chancellor Kent Syverud wrote in a letter posted Wednesday. "His goal in making this decision and announcement now is to bring certainty to the team and program in the coming years."

Boeheim has been Syracuse's coach since the 1976-77 season. He's made four Final Fours and won a national championship (thanks to the enrollment of Carmelo Anthony in advance of the 2002-03 season).
