LeBron James, Klay Thompson named Players of the Week
The Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson today were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Jan. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 25.
James led the Cavaliers to a 4-0 week behind averages of 27.8 points (second in the conference), 6.8 assists (tied-fifth in the conference), 6.3 rebounds and 2.25 steals (sixth in the conference).
Thompson averaged 33.0 points (second in the West) and helped the Warriors to a 4-0 week. He connected on 21-of-38 three-point attempts, and ranked eighth in the conference with 2.25 steals per game.
Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta's Paul Millsap, Dallas' Monta Ellis, Houston's James Harden, Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, New York's Carmelo Anthony, Phoenix's Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas, San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard and Toronto's Kyle Lowry.
