Charlotte coach Alan Major takes indefinite leave of absence

The University of Charlotte announced Tuesday afternoon that, for the second time in less than a year, its coach, Alan Major, will indefinitely leave the team due to health concerns.

In a statement, the school writes, "Major, who took a similar medical leave during the summer, approached Director of Athletics Judy Rose to request the leave due to a return of health conditions."

The 49ers, 6-7 and with an upcoming road game Thursday against Western Kentucky, have been coached by Major since 2010.
