Fisher: Melo could shut it down for season

Judging by Derek Fisher’s comments before the game, the sight of Carmelo Anthony dressed to impress on the sideline may soon become a familiar scene as an extended period of rest or even surgery could be in his future to treat his sore left knee.

Anthony, who signed a five-year, $124 million contract in the summer, missed his third game on Friday because of knee soreness. And he says has been playing with some discomfort in his knee since the second game of the season.

“I think everybody involved is reasonable enough and smart enough as people in this business to come together on that if that time comes,” Fisher said of a possible medical procedure or a long rest for Anthony.
