Popovich says Leonard out indefinitely, Mills cleared to return
While starting small forward Kawhi Leonard remains out indefinitely with a torn ligament in his right hand, Christmas came early for the Spurs with the early medical clearance of Patty Mills.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Mills was cleared for full action two days ago. But Mills won’t see any game time until Popovich is absolutely convinced there’s no chance of re-injuring his shoulder.
Leonard has an even bigger impact on the Spurs’ fortunes as their top perimeter defender and third-leading scorer (15.2 points per game). But Popovich said he remains out indefinitely.
