Rose, Gasol return as Bulls beat Jazz
Chicago needed a basket from Mike Dunleavy and a free throw from Pau Gasol in the final seconds to avoid an embarrassing loss in a 97-95 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday night.
Derrick Rose scored 18 points in his return to the Bulls' lineup after missing four games because of a hamstring injury. Jimmy Butler scored a game-high 25 points and Gasol added 23 points and nine rebounds for Chicago, who beat the Jazz for ninth time in the last 12 games between the two teams.
Derrick Favors scored 21 points and pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds for Utah.
Pacers 111 Mavericks 100
Donald Sloan scored 29 points and seven Pacers scored in double figures in a 111-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
The Pacers got a double-double from Luis Scola (14 points, 11 rebounds). They played without center Roy Hibbert, who sprained his left ankle Saturday.
The Mavericks, who have lost two straight for the first time this season, were led by Monta Ellis with 24 points. Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Knicks 86 Rockets 91
James Harden scored 12 of his 36 points in the last five minutes in a clutch performance at the finish to lead the Rockets over the Knicks 91-86.
Carmelo Anthony left the game with back spasms with less than two minutes remaining in the first half and did not return. Anthony had 14 points.
Jose Calderon and Travis Wear both had 9 points for the Knicks (4-11), who fell to 1-6 on the road and suffered their 10th loss in the last 12 games.
Trail Blazers 114 Sixers 104
LaMarcus Aldridge had 15 of his 33 points during the pivotal third quarter to help the Trail Blazers defeat Philadelphia, sending the 76ers to their 14th straight loss to open the season.
Wesley Matthews added 17 points, Damian Lillard had 16 and Robin Lopez chipped in 12 for Portland (11-3), which won its eighth in a row after coming back from a two-point halftime deficit.
Michael Carter-Williams led Philadelphia (0-14) with 24 points.
