Mavericks void Rashard Lewis' contract after discovering knee injury
The Mavericks have voided Rashard Lewis's one-year contract after discovering his injured right knee requires surgery, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
In a two-line news release, president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said: "It came to our attention during Rashard Lewis's physical that he is in need of a medical procedure on his right knee. We wish him all the best for a speedy recovery and continued success in his remarkable career."
Lewis and the Mavericks agreed to terms on a one-year contract July 15. He was scheduled to make the veteran minimum salary of $1.4 million.
