NCAA roundup: Oklahoma State blows out TCU, Texas Tech knocks off Baylor

Marcus Smart drained three 3-pointers in the first four minutes to set the tone, then the ninth-ranked Cowboys overwhelmed Texas Christian 82-50 on Wednesday night.

Smart, the reigning Big 12 player of the week, finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Cowboys (15-2, 3-1 Big 12). Markel Brown scored 14 points and Le'Bryan Nash added 13 points and eight rebounds for Oklahoma State.

Karviar Shepherd scored 13 points and Amric Fields and Michael Williams each added 11 for the Horned Frogs (9-7, 0-4) in their most lopsided loss of the season.

Texas Tech 82 Baylor 72

Jaye Crockett had 19 points, Toddrick Gotcher added 17 and the Red Raiders knocked off No. 12 Baylor 82-72 for their first Big 12 victory of the season.

Dejan Kravic and Robert Turner scored 14 apiece for the Red Raiders (9-8, 1-3), who ended a four-game slide against Baylor in Lubbock with their first victory over a ranked opponent in 35 games.

Kenny Chery scored 22 points and Taurean Prince had 13 for the Bears (13-3, 1-2). They finished with only six assists, a season low for a team averaging 16.3.

San Diego State 68 Fresno State 60

Xavier Thames scored 28 points and Winston Shepard keyed a 12-2 run for the 10th-ranked Aztecs, who rallied to beat Fresno State 68-60 on Wednesday night for their 14th consecutive victory.

On a night when the Aztecs (15-1, 4-0 Mountain West) often looked ragged, Thames was the only one who was consistent. He made eight of 13 field goal attempts (the team hit only 18 of 54 for 33.3 percent) and nine of 11 free throws.

Shepard scored 17 points and Josh Davis had 13 rebounds.

Saint Louis 66 St. Bonaventure 60

Dwayne Evans scored 18 points, Rob Loe had 11 rebounds and three blocked shots and the 24th-ranked Billikens held off St. Bonaventure 66-60 on Wednesday night.

Jordair Jett scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half for Saint Louis (16-2, 3-0 Atlantic 10), which has won 10 in a row. The start is the school's best since the 1993-94 team was 19-1.

Matthew Wright had 17 points for St. Bonaventure (11-6, 1-2), which was in foul trouble early and ended with four players drawing four fouls apiece.
