Oladipo, Burke named top rookies for December
The Orlando Magic's Victor Oladipo and the Utah Jazz's Trey Burke today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in December.
Oladipo ranked third among NBA rookies in scoring (12.7 ppg) and assists (3.8 apg), sixth in rebounds (4.5 rpg), and second in steals (1.3 spg) and minutes (32.1 mpg). Additionally, Oladipo scored in double figures 10 times and had 20 or more points twice, including a career-high 26 points twice, on Dec. 3 at Philadelphia and Dec. 13 vs. Cleveland.
Burke led all NBA rookies in assists (5.9 apg) and free throw percentage (.919). Among first-year players, he ranked second in scoring (14.8 ppg) and minutes (32.7 mpg). Burke had a career-high 30 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in a 86-82 victory over the Orlando Magic on Dec. 18.
Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month were New York's Tim Hardaway Jr., Philadelphia's Michael Carter-Williams, and Sacramento's Ben McLemore.
