Billy King says no trade imminent to replace injured Brook Lopez
After confirming that Brook Lopez is out for the season with a fractured foot, GM Billy King said he has no trades on the table and he remains faithful in the roster he built with a record-breaking payroll.
Although Jason Kidd wouldn’t commit to a lineup without Lopez, the Nets are expected to start Kevin Garnett at center and either Andray Blatche or Mirza Teletovic at power forward.
King noted that he will apply for the Disabled Player Exception, which would give the Nets the option to sign a replacement for about $5 million. Still, it would require the Nets to cut a player and cost owner Mikhail Prokhorov significant money in luxury taxes. A source said it’s unlikely they’ll use the exception if approved by the league.
