The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that Jordi Fernandez has been named the new head coach of their exclusively owned and operated NBA Development League affiliate, the Canton Charge.
Fernandez, 31, spent last season as an assistant coach with the Charge on Steve Hetzel’s staff. Before joining the Charge, he served as a player development coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2009-13.
Alongside his roles with the Charge and Cavaliers, Fernandez serves as an assistant coach with the Spanish National Team’s U19 squad at the World Championships. A native of Badalona, Spain, Fernandez attended Inefc Lleida in Spain, where he earned his degree in sport sciences.
