On Monday at his charity Dodgeball event to raise money and awareness for autism, Deron Williams was smiling about the possibility of entering a season, and a training camp, with sturdy, pain-free ankles.
The surgeries to both his ankles - performed in May - has left the point guard optimistic that he'll rediscover the game and confidence that secured a $98 million contract from the Nets.
"That's definitely the plan," Williams said. "Anytime you can't walk, you can't run, you can't jump, it's hard to play basketball, especially in this league. The only thing I wish is that I would've gotten surgery earlier. But what can you do? I got it now. I'm ready to go now, and I'm excited about the season."
