The Mavericks agreed in principle to a trade for Miami big man Josh McRoberts in exchange for a trade exception and second-year big man A.J. Hammons.
The Mavericks also will get a future second-round draft pick in the deal.
The 6-10 McRoberts has played just 81 games in the last three seasons because of various injury problems.
