The NBA's Houston Rockets will retire former center Yao Ming's No. 11 jersey during next year's Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls at the end of January 2017, according to China's Basketball Pioneers newspaper.
Yao Ming was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.
Yao Ming played 486 regular season games in the NBA, all for the Houston Rockets. He averaged 19.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocked shots per game, and was called to the NBA All-Star team eight times.
