Nico Batum ruled out of Game 3 with foot strain

The Charlotte Hornets announced Thursday that guard/forward Nicolas Batum underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) which revealed a left foot strain. Batum is listed as out for Game 3 of the team’s first-round playoff series vs. Miami on Saturday, April 23 at Time Warner Cable Arena (5:30 p.m. tipoff).

He will continue to receive treatment and his status will be updated prior to Game 4 on Monday, April 25. Batum sustained the injury with 10:43 remaining in Charlotte’s Game 2 loss on Wednesday.

The eighth-year Frenchman averaged career highs of 14.9 points and 5.8 assists along with 6.1 rebounds in 35.0 minutes per game in 70 contests for the Hornets (all starts) during the regular season.

In the first two games of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, Batum has averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 37.5 minutes per game.
