Former Trail Blazers star Damon Stoudamire named Pacific head coach

Former Blazers star and Portland native Damon Stoudamire has been named the head coach at the University of the Pacific, the school announced Wednesday morning.

Stoudamire, 42, was a star at Portland's Wilson High School and he played eight seasons with the Blazers, from 1997 to 2005.

Stoudamire was the seventh overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 NBA Draft and went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year after averaging 19.0 points and 9.3 assists in the 1995-96 season.

Nicknamed "Mighty Mouse," Stoudamire played a total of 13 years in the NBA.
