Former Vanderbilt guard Dai-Jon Parker dead at 22

Former Vanderbilt basketball player Dai-Jon Parker died Thursday in an accidental drowning in Indianapolis, leaving his ex-teammates in shock at the loss of "the most positive human being I've ever been around."

Parker, 22, was reported to have gone under the water without a life jacket while he and another man were being pulled behind a pontoon boat on an inner-tube. They hit a large wave that threw both men into the water.

When Parker did not resurface, witnesses called 911; emergency crews later pulled his body out of the Morse Reservoir.

Parker, a 6-foot-3 guard from Baton Rouge, La., averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in his three-year career at Vanderbilt.
