Thabo Sefolohsa underwent surgery to repair a right fibula fracture and ligament damage on Thursday, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said.
Sefolosha suffered the season-ending injury during his arrest in New York City earlier this month. Sefolosha said his injuries were caused by New York police during the incident. He and teammate Pero Antic, also arrested, said they will contest the charges.
According to one person familar with the situation, Sefolosha is expected to be back to full basketball activities in about six months.
