Mavs' Ellis, Chandler out last game before break

The Mavericks did not have many details postgame on the injuries that caused center Tyson Chandler and shooting guard Monta Ellis to exit in the first quarter of Monday's 115-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Both likely will miss Wednesday night's game against the Utah Jazz.

Chandler sprained his left ankle when he landed awkwardly after being fouled by Spencer Hawes 39 seconds into the game. He left about a minute later.

Ellis limped off the floor with 8:03 remaining in the first quarter due to a left hip injury that coach Rick Carlisle said he assumed was "some kind of strain."
