Grizzlies, Zach Randolph at contract impasse

The Grizzlies and Zach Randolph have suddenly hit a major snag in contract negotiations, and the veteran forward is now leaning toward free agency.

Randolph, 32, has until June 30 to trigger a $16.5 million contract option for the 2014-15 season. Randolph will become an unrestricted free agent July 1 if he opts out.

The impasse is about money and developed once the negotiations went beyond general manager Chris Wallace.
